Yoko hails McCartney as a “magnificent man.”

Sometimes I wonder why is this even news anymore.  I thought that Paul and Yoko had kissed and made up last year at the LOVE premiere in Las Vegas.  It is a wonderful heart-felt sentiment yet still feels a little awkward coming from Yoko’s lips about Paul McCartney.  It does seem sincere though.

Who knows?  Maybe they were sipping Mojitos together remembering the old times before and after the dedication and Larry King interview?  Wouldn’t that be a sight.  Imagine Yoko and Paul hanging out in the hotel bar smoking Cubans talking about the good old days.  Maybe they get together and have a monthly Beatle coffe clatch removed from the public eye?  You know, a chance for Olivia, Ringo, Yoko, and Paul to get together and really talk about the past.

It’s good to see the old gang together no matter the circumstances.  Good interview.  Bad interview. Regardless.  It is just nice to see them together and playing nice.  Those opportunities are few and fleeting.  Still, Yoko’s sentiments are great to hear.

Here’s what we’ve read.

Yoko Ono has reportedly patched up her differences with Sir Paul McCartney – calling him a “magnificent man”.

The pair showed that they can put their problems aside at a ceremony in Las Vegas, honouring John Lennon and fellow late Beatle George Harrison, according to the Daily Mirror.

The duo attended alongside Ringo Starr and George’s widow Olivia at a ceremony marking the first anniversary of the Cirque du Soleil’s Beatles musical, Love.

Speaking of Macca, Yoko said: “John would have been very happy and glad that this show is such a success, and also that another magnificent man introduced him – I’m very thankful to him.”

The pair have a 40-year history of bust-ups, including a clash of personalities which many fans blame for the eventual break-up of the Fab Four in 1970.

In recent years they have argued over the reversed Lennon and McCartney credits on the back In The US Live album which read “by Paul McCartney and John Lennon”, rather than the traditional “Lennon-McCartney”.

  1. ok,my opinion is this:it’s really a peaceful thing see sir Paul hugging and kissing Yoko, looking at her with another expression on his face, like if he was interested about her physical appearence or what else……those fights between them when she was with John, and Paul was really argued because in their recording studios always were four people, now five, after so many years with the happiness of everybody it’s over!i’m happy, too!i admit that that situation couldn’t give some help to someone!but, now,i don’t know, maybe i wrong, but i have an incredible, strong sensation, and it makes me thinking a lot.i don’t think about drinking a mojito or smoking together.there’s something that is coming out of them,i don’t try to call it love, because it would mean to be too much!but,(i hope no,absolutely!)i believe they’ll getting together!it’s a sensation, but i believe so.don’t ask me why!

  2. I’ve never been a big Yoko fan, and have mostly sided with McCartney on thier trivial arguments. But I have to give Yoko credit. I think she politely and accurately summed up her relationship within the Beatle family when she said,”Well, most families do have some breakups and arguments, don’t you think?”. If John were at her side, he would have nodded his head in agreement.

I agree with Matt: no matter what you thought of the show, it was great to see them all together. The next time invite Julian, Zak, Dhani, Stella and Sean.

  3. I agree that they should also invite others and don’t forget about Cynthia and Astrid; two of the most influential of the early days. Wonder if Jane Asher is busy these days?

  4. Do a three hour show, including a few live tunes, with George Martin as the MC.

They’d sell a zillion DVD’s! Good idea Raj.
