Beatles reunion on Larry King. Your Reactions.

I’m sure all of you watched the Beatle reunion with Larry King last night?  What are your reactions?  A lost of the interview I was left a little speechless.  And believe me, it wasn’t in a good way.  There were times that I really just wanted to jump through the television set and strangle Larry.  I felt embarassed for them.  The whole thing felt like one of those early Beatle tour press conferences kind of light and silly.  It just wasn’t what I was hoping for.  Was it truly wonderful and exciting to see them all together? Absolutley.  Was it a bit magical? Yes.  Did Larry King nearly ruin the whole experience?  Kinda.  Not to nit pick, but it was like he had never seen a bit of news about The Beatles at all.  It was like he was just now catching up with history.

While the interview was nice, it just felt like such a wasted opportunity. C’mon, you don’t call Ringo George.  I was also surprised that they split up the widows and the living as they did.  I would have much preferred that they were all together the whole time.

  • What are your thoughts on the Larry King reunion?  We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Here’s what we’ve read.

Larry King had an impressive exclusive interview with the Beatles on Tuesday night.

“It’s the only time the two surviving Beatles and the deceased Beatles wives have agreed to be interviewed together,” Rolling Stone says.

Still, King managed to embarrass himself only 23 minutes into the show.

It happened after King asked Paul McCartney about the day John Lennon died. Then King looked at Ringo Starr to ask the same question. But he accidently asked “George, where were you?” instead.

George? This is Ringo here,” McCartney responded, surprised. Ringo laughed.

A second later, King tried to recover: “I was getting to George,” referring to a later question about George Harrison’s death.

“No you weren’t Larry!,” McCartney teased. Starr tried to move on (“shut up, it’s my turn!”), but McCartney piled on: “He got your name wrong on natonal television!” “Give him a break,” Starr replied…

  1. Larry King was awful…that was a big waste of time…even the Beatles looked bored.

  2. While it was exciting to see them all together, (especially Paul!) it was a little disturbing to watch. The questions were really lame. And, Paul seemed to be kind of put off by the whole thing!

  3. Larry wasted a great oportunity with some extremely bland questions.

  4. The irritating thing about Larry King is that he will ask a question and the person will start to answer and before they even get midway through a thought, he is interrupting and asking another question. Larry King had the opportunity of a lifetime and I think he really blew it. Hopefully he will do better with Paris Hilton tonight. 🙂

  5. Larry King is a tired old clueless fool. What a waste of time for everyone involved.

  6. Larry sucks!….beatles rules!

  7. what a poor figure!oh i couldn’t see this show, but even it was ugly,i would reallylike to see it just for laughing!i understand what you mean, people!even in my country,on tv there are worst journalists that everyone could ever know!i think just because of the Beatles and the widows, the audience level went up,but apart that special that mr King done yesterday night,i think he hasn’t so much success on tv!i think American people prefer to change tv channel, instead watching him!and i can only say that this is the right thing to do!

  8. i hope larry asks paris some really embarrasing questions, maybe she will cry again……at least the beatles were before that brat….PAUL AND RINGO WERE GREAT, MAYBE THE QUESTIONS COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER, BUT WHO CARES, IT WAS SO NICE SEEING THEM ALL TOGETHER. THE FOUR OF THEM SEEM TO GET ALONG PREETY GOOD. PEOPLE WOULD COMPLAIN IF GEORGE AND JOHN CAME BACK TO LIFE, SO SOME PEOPLE CANNOT BE PLEASED, BUT PAUL AND RINGO DO NOT CARE ANYWAY, THEY DON’T HAVE TO, THEY ARE THE BEATLES…..ENJOY THEM OR WATCH paris the brat TONIGHT…I’M GOING TO BED EARLY ….AT LEAST LARRY GOT THEM TOGETHER, WHAT DID THE OTHER INTERVIEWERS DO?

  9. Larry had a great opportunity, with plenty of chances to ask great followup questions, but seemed to not even care, other than that he had a great *scoop*. Every time he cut someone off just when it was getting interesting, I wanted to put my foot through the screen! And yes, embarassing! Not only calling Ringo “George”, but asking Olivia about “Something”, which was written about Patti, and even though she had a lovely reply, it was uncomfortable. At least it was nice to see Paul and Ringo with that twinkle in their eyes, they obviously saw how lame it was and luckily showed some of that old Beatles charm.

  10. I guarantee you that ANY other interviewer would have had a better show than Larry King. Defending that show last night is not a good move.

  11. […] love to know what you thought of the interview.  Leave your thoughts about the interview in our reaction post’s comment […]

  12. The questions King asked seemed like they were being posed by someone who knew very little about anything other than a superficial history of the Beatles. Paul seemed distracted to the point of sillieness. The question to Olivia about “Something” was an embarassment. Ringo seemed poised throughout. Yoko was her irritating self. I’m sorry I wasted my time, and felt sorry for the Beatles and there family for having to endure the inane questions.

  13. i knew that larry does not conduct good, in depth interviews, and when his guest DOES start to expand on something, he cuts them off, but the wasted time!!! how could he squander such precious moments, when we could have really learned something new about some aspect of the group or the music!! olivia did learn from yoko that john pushed to have “something” released as a single, but that is known, it is talked about in interviews with john, anyway…..this happened in one of the very few moments that the widows were allowed to chat together without a dumb, or insensitive question being asked.

what happened to the fan e-mails (like mine) or the video questions? how bad was the interview? on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst, this was a 50! come on, larry, don’t call ringo “george”, or ask george’s widow about her feelings about a song WRITTEN FOR ANOTHER WOMAN!! do you have to be a really huge beatles fan to know these things? don’t think so……!!

in short, i was unsurprised but deeply saddened that another interviewer (anderson cooper?) could not have conducted the interview. or, they could have just used the interview questions provided by rolling stone magazine. that would have been very helpful.

i thought all 4 beatles/widows looked amazing; paul and ringo, looking youngish and vital, still rockers, baby, even with the suits! sneakers: good move, guys! the ladies looked lovely; i wished for more time with them- and yoko, who i believe is 72, at least, looks so wonderful, and still cool as ****. a shame barbara bach starr wasn’t allowed to join in…..

i guess at least we had the experience of seeing them live, and together, in real time….a “splendid time”…..? um…..no, but just the fact that paul & ringo are still rockin’, doing their music, with their senses of humor still in place, is very cool, indeed.

  14. Larry has gotten to the point where he doesn’t think he needs to do his homework to provide a quality interview. It was embarrassing to watch as he stumbled over his lame questions which evidenced his real lack of understanding of the music. Oh, if Larry could only clap in time! Ringo was polite in response but Paul was justifiably bored by the same old questions, specifically about his personal life. Larry blew a great opportunity on an historic occasion! “How’s life treating you, Larry!” I think it’s time for you to give it up in the true sense of the phrase.

  15. It was terrible. Paul looked a little tired and maybe bored? Ringo looks well. The question about Something was a real winner. Hey Larry do some homework. I realize the interviews were because of the show in Vegas but the questions seemed for the most part “Last minute” types of questions. At least Paul was honest about his legacy and long career. He is good. And Ringo is still underated as a drummer to this day.
He did make one good comment about his playing. As a musician you have to appreciate his playing because he didn’t get in the way of the vocals. He complimented the tracks.
The only sad thing is that John and George are not here to enjoy their part in music history. Especially John. His last Playboy interview about the music was great, but bitter at the same time. George at least got to share his thoughts in the Anthology
and seemed to really accept his place in history and was able to successfully move on.
The Beatles were the 60s for me growing up. But their music is timeless. Thanks guys.

  16. What a wasted opportunity. The worse interview, just awful if it wasn’t so funny.

  17. […] they were sipping Mojitos together remembering the old times before and after the dedication and Larry King interview?  Wouldn’t that be a sight.  Imagine Yoko and Paul hanging out in the hotel bar smoking […]

  18. Hey that guy above me is right, it Was the “worse” interview, hehe.

  19. they rocked. better than that paris interview. how many porn movies has paris done now?

  21. veronica , i …i….i…. i don’t know what to say……………about porn………..let’s talk about now and then……..

  22. wasting their time, huh? cat got my tongue, no i would rather talk about the beatles…as for albert goldman…he was the biggest lier on earth now he’s the biggest lier in ????……he’s dead, you know…..elton john is bi, but he didn’t have a thing with john, he did record a song with him….whatever gets you through the night, as for an affair you must be thinking of kiki dee….now and then would be a great welcome to any beatle fans collection…….i have heard the demo too, it aint that bad……anything john recorded was good….musical recording that is….you need to get, imagine, walls and bridges, plastic ono band, but stay away from two virgins, life with the lions, wedding album, they are more yoko than john………….hope that answers your questions, veronica…. sorry if i sounded a bit sharp, but……your last post was kind of angry.

  23. this space for sale.

  24. for awc1967:ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!really good!!!!!well, the friendship between John and Elton was really innocent!Veronica,John was in an awful period so Elton tried to give a great chance to him:elton said that if he sang “Lucy in the sky with diamonds”(with the John’s help),he accepted to sing “Whatever gets you thru the night” with John, you see,Elton’s cover of “Lucy in the sky……..”was really a successfull cover,so Elton recordedit “Whatever gets…..”with John, also in Cynthia Lennon :”John”you can read that Cynthia would to take Julian to visit his dad,and Elton helped her and Julian!,also,in 1982 Elton’s album:”Jump up” he dedicated a song for John:”Empty garden”,also Elton has a a piano belonged to John, also,Elton played and sang live in a concert in 1990 at Abbeyroad,London for remembering John and he sang :”Imagine”and he even recorded it!so,don’t read those stupid news which writing some people who hasn’t a good brain!please!
