Olivia Harrison is torn over decision to release Carnival of Light.

Well folks as more and more momentum, and new about the long-talked about Beatles’ the long lost Beatles track, Carnival of Light, comes out.  It seems that not everyone is as excited to release it.  We all know quite well that George Harrison had reservations about putting this track on the Anthology project, and his dissent it what nixed us from hearing it all those years ago.

As more and more news comes out, Olivia Harrison is voicing concerns of her own about the track itself.  We all know that all Beatle projects need to be voted on unanimously amongst all of the powers that be.  We could be waiting even longer to hear this track, unless Olivia changes her mind.  Hopefully, we will all get a chance to hear the lost legendary track.  For now the rumor mill continues, and we wait even longer.

Here’s what we’ve read.

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s plan to put out an unheard BEATLES’ track has been dealt a setback – his former bandmate GEORGE HARRISON’s widow OLIVIA is reportedly undecided about agreeing to its release.

McCartney announced earlier this week (17Nov08) he wanted fans to finally hear the Fab Four’s 1967 experimental tune Carnival of Light.

The singer allegedly attempted to include the 14-minute song on previous Beatles Anthology albums but was blocked by Harrison – who disliked the composition because he felt it was too avant-garde.

Now McCartney is reportedly set to face opposition from the late guitarist’s wife, who – along with John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono – must give permission for the song to be released under the Beatles’ name.

A source tells Britain’s Daily Express newspaper, “Olivia is well aware George didn’t like Carnival of Light. It’s inevitably going to be difficult for her to give the go-ahead.”

  1. Well this is interesting. Its understandable that Olivia would choose to respect George’s wishes.

It always seems that stories about unreleased Beatles song or LET IT BE not being on DVD, etc. are always blamed on Paul. As if he is the only one who has a say on the matter. I am not talking about this Blog. But the collective fan reaction.

  2. Since Olivia and Yoko wrote most of their songs, they do have a say.

I remember back in 1964, seeing Yoko and Olivia on the Sullivan show, it was the experience of a lifetime.

It would be better if Paul and Ringo just admitted the truth, Yoko and Olivia are more Beatle’s than they are.

Looking forward to Yoko’s Electric Arguments cd next week.

Sorry for the sarcasm, but these two women who were once married to Beatles do not deserve to make decisions for two people who have passed on.

  3. Whether you think they “deserve” to make these decisions is irrelevant!!!!! Legally they are the ones who are.

If years ago something had happened to Paul, Linda would be speaking for him…..(or horror – HEather,,,,,) some day Paul’s children will be making these decisions when he is gone.

  4. This is unbelievable… George didn’t even show up to the recording session for carnival of light; it’s really a tune by paul and john… I ask myself how would I feel if I couldn’t release a song that I wrote myself because of some freaking widow’s concerns.

  5. Do whatever your heart tells you, Olivia. If George blocked it for inclusion in the Anthology, and you want to honor his opinion, then do so!
