New LIVE Purple Chick Bootleg sets available.

Well folks it really good to be back.  I have been gone for the last week and a half, and it’s good to be home.  No vacation here, just a work conference.  It’s taken a day or two to get into the swing of things.

I really want to send a warm thank you to our guest contributor, TerminusJThermondy, for the running the ship while I was gone.  He did nothing short of an outstanding job while I was away.  There were some stories that surprised me.  He gave us a nice combo of commentary, news, and opinion.  I hope you all enjoyed it.  I know I did.  Our friend has an open invite to contribute anytime here.  Well done.

As I said, there was a lot that I missed while I was away.  For all of you Beatle bootleg collectors it appears that a few sets have surfaced in the Purlpe Chick LIVE Beatles series.  You may recall that the wonderful folks at Purple Chick had put together deluxe album sets, and have since moved onto compiling the most definitive album sets of our beloved Fab Four in a live setting.  These collections have so far been chronological, and nothing short of outstanding.

Here’s the scopp on the latest round (2 distinct sets) of Purple Chick compilations.  Remember, the fine folks at Purple Chick are using the best sounding and most complete sources.  In a way, they are rendering all other bootleg collections incomplete and irrelevant at this point.  If you haven’t found these live sets, which started with a Hamburg-era set that is outstanding, I implore you to seek them out.

Here’s what we’ve read.

Purple Chick’s The Beatles [Live] Conquering America (February-June 1964) [2 CD’s set]
You probably don’t need another live Beatles collection, but here’s one
anyway. Here, The Beatles conquer America, and then move on to the rest
of the world, leaving behind a hospitalized Ringo.Carefully compiled and restored from the best sources we could find. As
always, we didn’t just copy the audio from the listed souces – instead, we
tried to work some of our patented sonic magic when necessary. Of course,
the quality still varies from dire to delightful, but you knew that already.

  1. thanks for the fun. However, you have kind of misspelled the last name in the post.
    🙂

  2. Oopps, so sorry. I’ll fix that.

  3. Trash

  4. Hi this is Beatle Bob the bootleg review (from Bootlegzone, 910, BeatlegYahoo list and more) and my two issues I have with Purple Chick is that they sometimes claim they have “unbooted” tracks when it was revealed these weren’t unbooted, just from an unbooted newer source. These should be labled as “upgrades” instead. 2nd, when PC uses different sources for a live track for instance. The edits may be a smooth transition but having the sound quality jump around can be slightly jarring and is unnecessary at times. I can understand if they find the missing end to a track to reconstruct it in total, but instead of using multiple sources, just use the complete best version. Otherwise, most are great, and essential sets to aquire!

    Regards,
    Beatle Bob🙂

  6. Just discovering Purple Chick. WHERE can I find THE MUSIC…….THE SONGS…….NOT articles about them?
    I’m lost.
    I’m a loser.
    thanks
    ron

  7. What does YSS stand for? I noticed it was mentioned on some of the mixes on Rubber Soul.

    thanks

  8. I’ll echo Ron’s question. How do you buy the damn things?

  9. Yeah, HOW DO I GET THESE!

  10. Yeah, HOW DO I GET THESE! I’m having a lot of trouble finding them and – is bootlegzone just a listing of bootlegs or can you buy stuff there?

  11. Here’s how you get these: bitorrent. You can also do a google search for ‘purple chick’ and find a lot of download locations as well. If you’re old fashioned like me, usenet will do just fine too.

Another thing I’d recommend you look for is DESS, or Doctor Ebbetts Sound System. This person remastered a lot of the Beatles catalog from a variety of original vinyl sources, some of which sound spectacular. Better than the 2009 remixes? Let your ears decide.

Also, someone asked what YSS stands for. I THINK( emphasis on think mind you) it stands for Yellow Submarine Soundtrack. Maybe someone can clarify that?

  12. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is required to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours
would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100% certain. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Kudos

  13. Hmm it appears like your website ate my first comment
(it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any helpful hints for first-time blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.

  14. Hello there. I was thinking about adding a
website link back to your website since both of our web sites are
primarily based around the same subject. Would you prefer I
link to you using your site address: http://beatle.wordpress.
com/2008/08/07/new-purple-chick-bootleg-sets-available/ or website title: New LIVE Purple
Chick Bootleg sets available. | I read the news today: All Beatle news.
. Please let me know at your earliest convenience.
    Cheers

  15. This design is wicked! You definitely know how to keep a reader entertained.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost.
..HaHa!) Excellent job. I really loved what you had
to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
    Too cool!
