There will always be rumors surrounding the Fab Four, even long after they are gone. We’ve had news reports and rumors about the remastered back catalog. We’ve had rumors about Anthology Threetle tracks that have never been finished. Well folks, we have another one here. The long-talked about lost Lennon song is being spotlighted in the news once again.
We had heard earlier reports that this song my be an exclusive, download only, track once the Beatles catalog gets onto iTunes. Who knows? I would simply just like to see them release it. Would it make a fitting tribute to those who we’ve lost in the beatle family? Absolutley. This track truly hits you right in the heart. John Lennon’s long lost track just might become The Beatles’ most beautiful and heartbreaking song of all-time.

Here’s what we’ve read.
The last unfinished John Lennontrack could see the light of day as a tribute to “fifth Beatle” Neil Aspinall who died last week.
Now And Then was unearthed with Real Love and Free As A Bird during the Fab Four’s Anthology series in the 1990s.
While the other two tracks were spruced up by Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr and went on to become top ten hits, Now And Then was left untouched.
Neil worked as chief of Apple Corps until last year and ensured THE BEATLES profited from their back catalogue.
An insider said: “There have been discussions about finishing Now And Then. It would be quite a task. The process of re-recording the two tracks that charted was fairly painless because the songs were almost complete.
“Now And Then will need a significant amount more work to get it into a condition where it could be released.”
With George also dead, I reckon Paul and Ringo should work together one last time in tribute to departed members of the group’s inner circle.

Paul could pen a song and maybe make John’s song the bridge, like a reverse “A Day In The Life.”
Sorry but this sounds like another speculative bit of non-news.
I agree it would be great to hear a properly finished version. I love the mash-up version, it really packs a punch.
Of course it would be great to have Paul and Ringo finish this piece. But at this point, I think they have given us everything we can expect. The great thing about the Beatles is that they always did what they wanted to with a few exceptions. (think the German versions of She Loves You and I Want To Hold Your Hand as examples)
I’ve always thought “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love” were wonderful to have, and I often listen to them as a fan, but there is certainly another viewpoint, which is that the Beatles catalog is fabulously rich and varied, and doesn’t need another thing to complete it. If the “Twotles” want to get together and finish this piece in tribute to Neil, I’m there, but I won’t be holding my breath.

Mark, I was wondering the same thing. Seems Ringo has some sort of problem with Paul these days, and isn’t quite keen to even discuss the Beatles these days. So I wouldnt hold my breath, BUT I would think if the song will ever hit this year along with the downloads, that means it probably had been finished a while back. Just to be ready. It WOULD be nice tho.

I really do like that fan-created version of “Now and Then.” When you linked to it the first time, I used some audio tools to strip out the audio track as an mp3 file, and it makes for interesting — and somewhat haunting — listening. I don’t know who did it. I don’t even know where all the audio samples came from. But it’s fascinating, and I like it. 🙂

Fan version my arse. This IS The Beatles track. If that was done by a fan I will eat a CD.
Yeah, it would be nice to have but there are better bootlegs to use instead of this song. I really like the fan version of help me help myself and india. Other great bootlegs could be illusions, or serve yourself. Or what would be really cool is if Paul worked on watching rainbows.
