Paul McCartney and Ozzy Osbourne set to perform together at the Brits

This article had me thinking.  Do you think that we will ever see a true “deuts” album from Paul McCartney.  Usually these albums are an afterthought.  Yes, I like them, but there are a lot of clunkers throughout a lot of these albums.  The Sinatra albums are great, the Tony Bennett duets album is wonderful.

A McCartney duets album, while being a little sacchrine, simply doesn’t have the same showbizzy (yes I made that word up) feel.  If he did ham it too much, then it would simply fail.  We would get nothing but “thumb’s up” video clips of Paul and his friends.  It would be a disaster in the making.

This live duet with Ozzy is surprising, and I think it will at least be rocking.

Here’s what we’ve read.

Sir Paul McCartney and Ozzy Osbourne are set to perform together at the 2008 Brit Awards, it has been revealed.

Performing with Sir Paul is Ozzy’s lifelong dream.

According to British newspaper The Sun, the pair will perform Paul’s classic Bond theme Live And Let Die. And if it does come off it will all be down to Ozzy’s music manager wife Sharon.

X Factor judge Sharon, 55, used her influence – and the couple’s gig as awards hosts – to set up the once in a lifetime opportunity for her 59-year-old husband.

She said: “They go together really well. It will be amazing.”

Former Beatle Paul is to be presented with an Outstanding Contribution To Music award at the bash, being held at London’s Earls Court on February 20.

A show insider reckons the performance, as odd as it may seem, will go down as one of the most memorable in history, he said: “Sharon is a very determined woman and wants it to be the best Brits ever. She’s been in touch with lots of the legendary music business names she knows personally.

“It was her idea for a duet between Ozzy and Sir Paul. If it happens, it will be unmissable.”

Ozzy, a self-confessed mop-top fan, had this to say about Paul: “McCartney’s a genius. The Beatles were the greatest band ever.

“The only problem I have with him is even God has a p***ed off day.

“No one can be that happy all the time. Even Mr Happy gets a sore ass sometimes.”
