The Beatles: Imagine Peace. Events and website for John Lennon Peace Tower revealed.

Most of the Beatle clan will be on hand to celebrate the unveiling of the John Lennon Imagine Peace tower in Iceland.  I am happy to see Yoko fully utilize electronic media through the internet to promote her causes and events.  It is nice to see such an interactive website with lots of goodies and videos for the event.

It looks like the peace tower will be unveiled on John’s birthday.  What a wonderful way to promote a great cause for the memory of such an influential man.  Kudos to Yoko for making this happen.

Also, if you haven’t subscribed to the newsletter through The Beatles’ official website, do that.  I found all of this information out, through an e-mail newsletter from the website.

Here are two videos from the website.  There are TONS and TONS more.

Documentary about Yoko Ono’s art philosophy, “Onochord”.

It looks as if Yoko is taking a page out of Paul’s book and has put tons of her own videos on youtube officially as part of this event.

Imagine all the people living life in peace
John Lennon

The IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is an artwork conceived by Yoko Ono in memory of John Lennon.

It is dedicated to peace and bears the inscription IMAGINE PEACE in 24 languages.

Its construction and installation is a collaboration between Yoko Ono, the City of Reykjavik, Reykjavik Art Museum and Reykjavik Energy. The work is in the form of a wishing well from which a very strong and tall tower of light emerges. The strength, intensity and brilliance of the light tower continually changes as the particles in the air fluctuate with the prevailing weather and atmospheric conditions unique to Iceland.

Every year it will light up between October 9th (Lennon’s birthday) and December 8th (the day of his death).

In addition the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER will be lit on New Year’s Eve, during the first week of spring and on some rare special occasions agreed between the City and Yoko Ono.
