Ringo plans downloads of solo catalog.

Did you think that we would let Paul McCartney snag all of the downloading spotlight?  Heck no.  Ringo needs to share the love too.  Not too long ago, Paul had announced that his solo catalog, which was long over due for a makeover,  would be available digitally for download.  You didn’t think that Ringo would be too far behind would you?  It seems that Ringo is going to officially make his back catalog available in the digital realm.

While this announcement may not send you rushing to the computer, it is good to see, and it promises that the boys are focused in the right direction at least in terms of getting good sounds stuff out, and at least making an attempt to stay current.  Maybe the Beatles remasters/downloads are really not that far behind.

Get ready to crank up your hi-fi, and pump out some solo Starr baby!

Here’s what we’ve read.

Ringo Starr has signed a deal to release his Capitol/EMI catalog online.

Downloads of his hit 1970 album, “Beacoups of Blues,” and 1973’s “Ringo” will be available Aug. 28, along with a compilation album, “Photograph: The Very Best of Ringo Starr,” his publicist said.

The best-of collection, with tracks such as “It Don’t Come Easy” and “Sentimental Journey,” will also be released on CD and as a collector’s edition CD/DVD package featuring a film and video clips.

Six Ringo Starr ring tones will also be offered.

“Liverpool 8,” a solo album by the 66-year-old ex-Beatle, is planned for a January 2008 release.

Starr’s first solo recording contract after the Beatles broke up was with Capitol/EMI, from 1970 to 1975.

His former Fab Four bandmate Paul McCartney released his 21st solo album, “Memory Almost Full,” earlier this month.

The Beatles catalog remains unavailable for downloading, though EMI has said it is working on a deal to put the songs online.

  1. January 2008 eh? Wow, didn’t think I’d have to wait THAT long for an album that was supposedly ready to release at the beginning of this month… I hope is is worth the wait. I really liked what Mark Hudson did with Ringo’s sound. Now it’s Dave Stewart’s turn. Maybe Mark would be willing to work with McCartney???

  2. well,i say:why not?i like Ringo and this news makes me smile cause in the Beatles he sang so few,but after the Beatles he published a good number of albums that i think are still reminded like nice works!i hope like Raj said before that waiting for this project will be something which will could give us something precious and not other hidden material cause of no one would never published it!

  3. I also hope that he releases the Sentimental Journey LP on-line because it was his 1st solo album released in 1970 (right before Beaucoups of Blues).

HERE IS THE REAL SONG LIST….ACCORDING TO RINGOSTARR.COM……..

  10. for awc1967:first thanks for the two lists, and for the link!Note:just for curiousity:”I’m the greatest”and “Goodnight Vienna”are written by John Lennon, just for Ringo(you can find John’s acoustic demos on “Lennon anthology”),”Only you”was a success sung by The Platters that John sung to explain Ringo how his cover should be sung(you can find it in “Lennon anthology”), for the song “It don’t come easy” George helped Ringo in the way of singing(i think this is a big problem for Ringo!)and you can find George version of this song on Youtube, just click on “It don’t come easy”and you’ll find it!for the definitive version George was again in the song, but he sung in the Background vocals!really, i think “IT DON’T COME EASY”for Ringo!(i’m joking)

  11. Cant wait for Ringo’s-Liverpool8_—-Will anbody Have the intellgence to ask Ringo and Paul—about The Beatles-reunion song Now and Then—when both Ringo and Paul and Yoko and Olivia are interviwed On Worldwide TV-on cnn next week–they are all giving the interview together!—-is anyone sharp enough to ask about-NOW AND THEN—-Im beginning to feel played like a bloody violin–could someone ask Ringo and Paul and Yoko and Olivia—about the darn Beatle REUNION SONG-WHILE THEY ARE ALL SITTING IN A ROOM TOGETHER BEING INERVIEWED BOUT MUSIC—COULD SOMEONE DO THAT—are you with me—Love at the mirage is ok—-but give us the good stuff-are you with me–clap yur hands-stamp your feet!—-and say IWANT NOW AND THEN—-are you wth me—did you write steve jones at apple?—are you with me?—-

  12. for Mr Happy:yes!i’m with you!but let’s make it together!it’s better!so,c’mon!i’mready and you?

  13. maybe we could send an email to larry king’s site and just ask why not bring it up…talk about celebrating john and george this would be the best way ever.

  14. for awc1967:yes!that it’s really true!and i think if they were still alive they really appreciated it!hey,do you (i’m sure that you do!)know “Little Willow”,by sir Paul?oh i really loveit!but i’ve tried to find its video on you tube but i’ve just only seen a video which starts with an interview to sir Paul and then some his images on quiet, sunny landscape,(i think it is the place around where he lives)and other images during the recording of the song.i’ve known also that this song was dedicated to Lady Di for her death(but firstly it was dedicated to Maureen Cox-Starkey-Tigrett,who was the ex-first Ringo’s wife).but do you know some others informations about this song?and do you know where i can find a video of it?i really love it with “Here today”,too!

  15. ULLA, i know little willow very much. sometimes it still brings tears to my eyes. why you ask?……my 10 year old son was born with a rare heart condition called “tetrology of fallot”, he had to have 2 open heart surgeries before he was 1 year old. little willow and the whole flaming pie cd really got me through those times. i felt paul wrote little willow for my son….. ten years earlier cloud nine came out just as me and my then girl friend were breaking up. i felt like fish on the sand and just for today were written for me……..so my love for the beatles is very deep ,almost spiritual….but the spiritual part i have in jesus. i feel as if those 4 guys were old friends of mine……i have had them in my life since 1984……. somedays i still find it hard george is gone…..some people say september 11th was a horrible day, but i say november 29th 2001 was.

  16. for awc1967:it’s difficult for me,finding some words to tell after what you have written!i’m terribly sad about your child.you know, when i listening about illness ,it always gives me a sense of powerlessness.this makes me think about life could be short, but if you have two lovely parents next to you you could be very lucky.remember,God always will protect your son, because he always protects children,so don’t stop to pray him, never.i don’t know how could be useful, but when your son feeling himself ill,or sad or something like that sing:”Beautiful boy”,i think the smile will returning on his face.

  17. for awc1967:about George, well, when he died i attended the high school,i can remember very well that terrible day.it was evening and i was watching tv,so by chance i stopped myself on tv news, and the news, the bad news that i would ever hear came out:”George is dead!cause of a cancer”my eyes were really opened,i felt my body freezing itself,i couldn’t believe on it!i remember that i thought”no!they are crazy!he’s still in hospital”as the night appeared all the tv news started to spread out this shocking news.i remember i collected all the newspapers articles about his death,i remember that for a whole week at school i wore all in black.my schoolmates looked at me so worried and told me:”hey Ulla, are you feel fine?are you ok?”i answered to them yes,but something inside me was broken!you know, since then,i always thought this:John and George are not dead!they are travelling into the Magical mistery tour bus,and they went to India for making meditation, but they’ll coming back soon!in a book i read a man who told:”George believed in Indian religion,so he believed in reincarnation.i hope he will coming back soon “i say:i hope they’ll coming back soon, and more than Yoko and Olivia,i’m still waiting for them, with open arms!

  18. those posts were beautiful ulla….i am gratefull my son is a survivor and we still have paul and ringo….i look on the positive side of life, it get’s me through.

  19. for awc1967:even if life can be so difficult,so bad with us,we must to be strong!i love a John song”How” and it says:”you know, life can be long, and you’ve got to be so strong….” and this is true!and if you have one dream again for coming true, well, you have another reason to live again and for thanking God.i live everyday with that sentence John said many years ago:”Life is what happens to you, while you’re busy making other plans”,but i try to hope, always, because the hope will never die!and i hope, and i’ll pray for your son that he ‘llcould find peace and joy,and you and your wife will could living always in love and harmony like the first marriage day.

  20. thank you ulla, you are always so positive. john’s imagine album is so full of good advice and hope. john was a very wise person and his honesty has always gained my respect. thanks for the prayers, they mean so much to me. you really are a big john lennon fan and it shows. i love to talk about john’s music, i love all his albums…..i hope you can get to see the larry king interviews….i recorded it on dvd last night right next to the love special from last year….

  21. for awc1967:no,thanks to you!you are so quiet,so kind and you make me think deeply about things.that’s for me so much!oh i love john, you know,my friend she’s a beatles but above all a john’s fan nicknamed me:”miss lennon”.you know,it’sfunny, but it’s a pleasure, really a pleasure for me talkin’about him.like if i was his daughter!(he never had one!)you know, for me it’s like if have known him,but unfortunately never happened to me,he died in 1980 and just after two years i was born.but i feel him so close to me,i don’t know, but it’s an incredible sensation.i’m really glad to talk to you and to know you.you know,i was thinking you are a sir paul’s fan….you know so many things about him…..oh i couldn’t watching king’s interview but i read the transcript.what a shame!really!take a look at the first article

  22. so nice to read your posts, ULLA , wish you lived in dallas….i love to talk john lennon….there is not 1 solo album that i do not like…. your love of john lennon is amazing…..iv’e been into the beatles since 1984, and have read hundreds of books, i pride myself on my beatles knowledge and i truly enjoy talking beatles quite a bit……drop me a line ever so often http://www.awc1967@hotmail.com

  23. oops i meant…. awc1967@hotmail.com

  24. for awc1967:ahahahah!it was the right address!don’t worry!ok,i’ll do it!thanks for what you say, thanks to God in this world there are again some wonderful people!it’s a pleasure ,really talking with you! oh,well,if i could i would really like to travel all over the world!how many beautiful places and people there are in the world ,like you for example, that i never known before?i think too many!i think, one day,but i don’t know when,i’ll doing my best for making my dreams come true!i’ll writing you soon!

  25. ulla, i really loved you so much……..peace and love to you…..

  26. ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmfffffffffffffffffffffffffff

  27. I’m so sorry Ulla, that it ended the way it did.
