Leave a birthday message for Paul at your favorite Starbucks.

Well you can’t say that the new Starbucks label isn’t trying.  They certainly are at least attempting to create some kind of buzz around for Paul McCartney’s upcoming albums.   There are exclusive listening parties around the globe, secret websites, free lithographs, rumored McCartney promo appearances,  youtube video singles and even, no joke,  an appearance by Paul on the Home Shopping Network.  You have to admit that they have churned up the old PR machine.  It’s a bit odd too, most of this stuff has happened in the last week or two, or will be happening in a few days.  It’s almost like the were a bit late to their own party.

The party is something we all can celebrate however.  How’s that for a bad segueway?  Starbucks is filming a birthday message to Paul at select locations on June 5th in addition to all the great stuff mentioned above.  It looks like you guys can be the star in leaving Paul McCartney your own message, and words of love on his birthday. This looks like a lot of fun.  I have to commend that Starbucks people, they have pulled out a few rabbits from the hat, and made waiting for an album fun again.

Here’s what we’ve read.

In addition to the Global Listening Event taking place at more than 10,000 Starbucks locations around the world, Starbucks invites McCartney fans to make music history by participating in a unique video tribute honoring McCartney’s 65th birthday.

On June 5, film crews will disperse to 11 key Starbucks locations in cities around the globe, including London, New York, Berlin, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Miami.

Fans can deliver a birthday message directly to McCartney at a designated store location in these markets. These messages may be included in the video tribute which will premiere on June 18, Paul McCartney’s birthday, via a host of online outlets.

Participants in the video are encouraged to bring memorabilia, make homemade signs, and dance along to the sounds of “Memory Almost Full” as it plays overhead.

  1. i am very excited about all the hoopla surrounding memory almost full. studio albums come out few and far between these days by the beatles. first of all…john and george are no longer with us. secondly paul and ringo are in their mid sixties. i do like live albums…greatest hits albums….anthology box sets….. but, there is nothing like a full length studio album. there are very few artists that i would buy a live album from, pinkfloyd and the doors are 2 of them. most live albums sound too studio these days { with the exception of any beatles live album}. as a beatlefan i buy anything official from all four. i can hardly wait for ringo’s liverpool 8 cd , i guess with paul’s cd coming out, ringo’s was pushed back a bit. so far this decade has gave us…1. driving rain…2. brainwashed….3. ringo rama…4. choose love….5. chaos and creation in the back yard and now 6. memory almost full and soon….. 7. liverpool 8. matt, you have an excellent site here, i enjoy the news and comments ……..in fact everything here is awesome…… i know one day the fab 2 will pass on, but untill that day, i will savor the art they produce……..

  2. for awc1967:oh come on my friend don’t be so negative!one day they’ll dying, but don’t think of that now!now we have still a big fortune and for this i think that we must enjoy about this, until we can!then i would like to say that i’m so glad about this news, because it’s funny and surprising, too!and i think for Paul is a perfect b-day gift!there’s nothing more beautiful than feeling love, real love by who really loves you, like fans love for their favourite singer!what a pity that these special, important occasions don’t happening in my country!you,American people and English people and others are very very very lucky!!!

  3. (PLEASE SIR MATT,COULD YOU SEND THIS MESSAGE IN ALL OTHERS B-DAY MESSAGES FOR PAUL?,THANK YOU VERY MUCH!)FOR SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY:dear sir Paul, you don’t know me,at all!my name’s Ulla, and i would like to tell you that i’m a Beatles fan,and for your birthday i would really wishin you my best greetings for a very happy birthday with all my heart and i wishin you others 100 years living always like you did!be always as you are and don’t change,NEVER!!!HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREAT UNFORGETTABLE SIR!!!**Ulla**

I thought the album didn’t come out until June 5th?

Amazon says so, and I believe I’ve read a bunch of places that’s the real launch date… then again it’s not like I haven’t gotten an “early copy” of the album through “unknown sources”, but still…

  5. JudasConstant,

All I meant was that the PR blitz seemed a bit close to the release date of June 5th. You would think that we would have seen more hoopla over the last few months, instead of the last few weeks.

That’s all that I meant. So sorry for the confusion.

  6. I hope it will be more ’bout this!:)
