Wonderful Christmas Time voted as worst Christmas song ever and VIDEO.

Paul just cannot catch a break, but for once I think I may concur.  The review on the website is particulary harsh, but absolutely hillarious.  For most of us die-hard fans, I know that we’ve at least thought a few of those sentiments about this song.  As cheesy as this song is…it is a guilty pleasure.

Around this time of year, I love to torture my wife with this song…getting it stuck in her head for days at a time.  Beautiful.

Enjoy the video too…HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Here’s what we’ve read.

Sir Paul McCartney’s 1979 tune Wonderful Christmas Time has been named the worst Yule song of all time by pop culture website retrocrush.com.

The song and the video have been termed ‘awful’ by the website and it claimed that the keyboard in the background was the most annoying accompaniment ever captured on audio.

“It sounds like some kid with hooks for fingers and Parkinson’s disease is slamming on some used Casio that Paul found at a thrift store,” Retrocrush stated.

The site also ridiculed McCartney’s estranged wife Heather Mills’ demand of $250 million for spousal support and stated that anyone who heard the song deserved a hefty compensation.

“I don’t believe his soon to be ex wife Heather Mills deserves the $250 million in spousal support she seeks, I feel that anyone who’s ever had to suffer through this yuletide abortion should at least get a fat check from Sir Paul as a Christmas gift,” the website said.

  1. come on- those people must have no christmas spirit! great to see paul so happy…and it’s a nice little song! o.k., it’s not “happy christmas, war is over”, but a very cute little song…

  2. Aww, hehe, I like it precisely *because* it’s so unabashedly cheesy. It’s charming in its own cute cornball way.

  3. Unfortunately, Paul bashing has become fashonable, purpetuated by some obscure Canadian blogger who ott to know better.

  4. If a Christmas song isn’t overtly offensive or religious in the worst sense I consider it a net gain. Certainly there’s nothing offensive in this one. I suspect we just wanted Paul’s to be more fun.

  5. Interesting to see that this song, like so many of Beatles and Macca has actually aged well. It has a charm – Jingle Bells ish and it has gained in popularity in recent years. Let’s face it, some of the most recorded and beloved Christmas songs are in the same vein as this one, cheesy, but fun. Jingle Bells, The Christmas Song, Sleigh Ride, Winter Wonderland, Holly Jolly Christmas, etc. This song like these will have its place in the Xmas Hall of Fame.

  6. […] in Your Head Posted on December 18, 2007 by Matt So you may remember that at this time last year, McCartney’s famous Wings’ Christmas classic tune took a beating.  This year seems no […]
