Beatles vs. Oasis

It looks like there may be a new war on the British music charts this week.  It looks like The Beatles will face off against their greatest fans (imitators), the group Oasis.  Could we see a Beatles vs. Oasis album , ala Beatles vs. The Stones in the near future.  That would be hillarious.  George Martin is confident that the Fabs will prevail in the music chart wars.

 Here’s what we’ve read.

Legendary British producer Sir George Martin is confident the new Beatles album will outsell Oasis’ greatest hits compilation when both go head-to-head tomorrow. Martin, who was the Fab Four’s original producer, believes The Beatles’ LOVE will triumph in the battle of the back catalogues.

Love has been produced by Martin and his son Giles, and is the soundtrack to The Beatles-inspired Cirque Soleil show of the same name, while Oasis’ effort is an 18-track collection of the band’s hits.

Although full of praise for the Gallagher brothers, Martin believes Stop The Cocks can’t match The Beatles new CD of experimental mixes.

He says, “I think the Gallaghers are very talented people. They are a very good group indeed, but not as good as The Beatles.” Martin and son made the disc after the surviving Beatles, Starr and Sir Paul McCartney, alongside John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono and George Harrison’s widow Olivia, approached him to create a Beatles soundscape for the show, which debuted in Las Vegas, Nevada in June.

  1. Well said Sir George Martin!

I recently read that the Gallagher brothers think the “LOVE” album is “rubbish”. Hmmm jealousy springs to mind. They aren’t even in the same league as The Beatles, in fact no one is and no one will ever be.

The Beatles music is timeless. Absolute masterpieces. I’ve listened to them since the age of 5 and I’m 23 now. I’ll be listening forever….

  2. This Beatles vs. Oasis is a big waste of time. There is no comparison. The Beatles broke new ground and were a musical and cultural phenomenon. Oasis is a copy cat band who has basically pissed on many other Picassos (i.e. Stones, Zep, Queen). How can Oasis be the best band since the Beatles when there are many others they have to address and contend with?

Oasis needed to shut up a long time ago.

  3. Arrogance, imitation and unoriginality – sums up what Oasis. Don’t get me wrong, I think that they are talented – no doubt, but to compare them to the Beatles is totally a waste of anyone’s time.

Oasis is OVERLY inspired by the Beatles – look at their dress, album covers etc…. except the Beatles had charm — Oasis were jerks and really didn’t care what anybody thoght of them – The Beatles cared alot about their fans — and gave them al that they could –

No one, especiall Oasis will ever accomplish what the fab four did in just 8 years …. their musical masterpieces continue to inspire generations even 41 years after their breakup!

It is indeed a totally different world since then – but their songs live on, and in reality, stronger than ever.

    All You Need Is Love.

    Peace and Love to all!

    Joe
