Ono not to follow through with Capitol lawsuit.

Is she or isn’t she?  I guess there are statutes of limitations and lawyer-things that I know nothing about.  Anyway, not to worry, she’s not suing the label that her son is on, she’s just filing funny paper.  Here’s what we’ve read.

Despite filing legal documents last week, Yoko Ono does not intend to pursue full litigation against EMI Group’s Capitol Records at this time over royalties due from the Beatles’ recordings.

Ono filed merely three pages with the New York Supreme Court last week rather than a full-length legal complaint.

According to sources close to the litigation, the purpose of the filing was simply to preserve her rights during ongoing discussions with the label.

The statute of limitations, which sets the number of years in which a lawsuit must be filed before the right to sue is lost, was about to expire.

The filing preserves Ono’s rights while allowing the parties to complete settlement documents to resolve the royalty dispute, says the source. Specific details of the proposed settlement were not available.
