Pete Doherty tells Paul McCartney: I’m keen to get clean

It looks like Paul McCartney, British rocks elder statesman, is reaching out the the current batch of UK rock stars.  I personally find this a bit surprising that Paul would come out like the to the often foolish Pete Doherty, but it seems they hit it off quite well, and Paul had some supportive words for the rock star.

I guess when Paul McCartney offers to give you a hand you listen.  His children are just a bit older than Mr. Doherty, and I guess Paul has had his battles with some druggish-demons in his past as well.  I guess he could pass along some words of support of his own.  Paul’s has had some (public) trials and tribulations with drugs in his past as well.  I’m sure he had some words of encouragement for the nearly hopeless rock star.  Let’s hope that he took his interview to heart.

Here’s what we’ve read.

Pete Doherty has reportedly told Paul McCartney that he’s definitely serious about getting off drugs during his current stint in rehab.

Pete was given special permission to leave his treatment programme at the Clouds rehab clinic in Wiltshire to interview the former Beatle for Observer Music Monthly magazine yesterday.

A source close to Pete told the Mirror: “Pete didn’t sleep the night before the interview just thinking about what he’d say to the legend when they actually came face to face. [But] they got on really well and Pete found Paul very supportive.”

“They had a real heart to heart - at times it was like a father talking to his son.”

“Pete promised Paul he was serious about getting clean, was through with the drugs, and said he never wanted to fall back into his dark days again.”

“They spoke about everything from music, other singers and even touched on the subject of women - but that was strictly between the two of them.”

The interview will be published next month.
